All flowering in my neighbourhood this Easter weekend, Prunus 'Snow Goose'.
Certainly cheering everyone up after the darkest and wettest Winter and early Spring on record in the UK.

 

Easter weekend, so that means the Prunus 'Mount Fuji' is in full flush of glorious scented flowers. Just love this one every single year. I saw it planted in 1969 and it's still going strong.

 

We would call 'Mount Fuji' cherry 'Shirotae', and we'd see it with flowers more double than these, which seem single with a single staminode. Are there areas on it with more fully double flowers?
I wonder if that makes a difference for its ID.
It's a beauty, for sure.

 

Yes it is Prunus 'Shirotae' I used the synonym as it is commonly known by here. But you are right to state this for the forum Wendy.

No it's a different tree.

 

6th April 2024 and our new little Prunus litigiosa 'Tassel Cherry' has come into flower this morning.

 

The Batsford Arboretum in the UK is experiencing early cherry blossom in 2024.
The weather conditions have attributed to this early show. Mild and very very wet..

12th April 2024 and my replacement Prunus 'Amanogawa' is in flower.
This replaced my 40 year old tree that died last year.

 

It's the 18th April 2024 and the cherries are in full flow here in Southern England. This one Prunus serrulata 'Kanzan '
I came across whilst out walking. The trunk appears to be struggling, but healing. It's around 15ft tall.

 

Nice-looking tree, seems to be low-grafted. The trunk looks ok to me.

 

This tree was looking lovely at Alnwick castle Northumberland UK this week. There were several in the grounds and I was informed that they are over 80 years old.
Added the castle in the background, for those who like these things.
Prunus serrulata 'Kanzan'

 

The cultivar shown here is 'Shiro-fugen'.
It seems funny that with all that space, the trees are planted to overhang the road, but somehow, that old one doesn't seem to have been truck-pruned.

 

Thankyou Wendy, I assumed it was Kanzan as that was what the gardener there said it was.
