I know this is not a maple but they are known informally as flower flowering maples and there appears to be little coverage on the other sections of the forum that I can see. I’m finding this genus rather challenging..lost one last winter despite keeping it in a very sheltered location..got another in the Spring it’s been flowering persistently but it’s bark has stripped or has been stripped.. I wonder whether the same critters that are eating the leaves are eating the bark..any ideas welcome? Interestingly despite all the bark being stripped all the way round the branches there are still emerging flower buds on those branches further along..if this was a maple it would have been dead by now..
