But the Amber is coming through nicely Xi. It's also loving those rain drops.
My Amber, in the wet today and from below in the sun a few days ago
Both stunning N.
2nd July 2021 and my Amber ghost is more red now. Definatly faster than last year turning this colour.
A little bit of new growth up top:
So pretty...... and people talk about July being boring in the maple world. Your Amber ghost knocks that theory into touch Xi.
Amber Ghost putting out some new growth towards the end July in the UK
Looking lovely N. Mines doing the same, my only concern is this 30°C + heat on tender new leaves. Next week looks better though.
So far so good, it is in pretty much full shade though now so hopefully they'll be fine.
While the old leaves are quite dull and crispy now, they just make all the better a contrast with that new growth:
This little guy is developing some stunning colour as the year onfolds. I think it's my favourite in my garden right now.
More of the favourite child. I can't believe how vivid those reds have become with just a few weeks of sun:
Funny to see how bright the new growth colour was at the start of the month, and how quickly it's darkened over the last few weeks:
Amber Ghost has darkened even more, now almost black-leaved under the morning dew. So interesting to see the range of colours one leaf goes through during its lifecycle:
My specimen is now awake and living up to it's name.
I'm not sure what this little weirdo is doing: it doesn't have the lovely pale amber colours of @D97x7 's gorgeous tree this year!
Beautiful contrast with the Spring greens behind Xi. Re the pale colours, I have found that this and Ariadne varies by region that you live in. It was discussed a couple of years ago on the forum.
Good point D, though I think there must also be some variation by year as well depending on the weather conditions? Even my Amber Ghost was quite pale last year (certainly compared to this year!) so it's quite interesting to see what it'll do over the next month and if it'll lighten up any!
They are fascinating to watch. I don't think there is another tree like maples that gives so much interest.
Best year of colors for mine so far.
The Amber colored full sized pic is from last year after the pink faded
That is one heck of a tree @Ultraman I love it.
Amber Ghost has finally achieved the colours I was hoping for at this time of year: very happy!
'Amber Ghost' is looking amazing! Couldn't capture the beautiful colors axactly but a quick shot.
Couldn't agree more D.
