We have a split leaf maple planted in a very bad location by our front steps in a concrete planter. I am constantly having to prune it, to keep it out of the way. I was wondering if I could transplant this tree somewhere else in my yard that would be more appropriate? It's about 10 years old.

What are the chances of successfully moving it? Any tips to improve it's chance for survival?

    Any feedback is appreciated!

Acer palmatum and related species transplant easily and with great success. A location providing some shade in the heat of the late afternoon would be good. A well draining soil would be benificial. Go ahead and move it. Don't plant it too deep.
