my young Odoriko
Love those creams and soft pinks Karl. Yet another old thread started up again. Excellent.
i have been an "acerholic" recently and have collected about 75 cultivars in the past year. Will be resurrecting some threads hahaha!
lovely cultivar !high price, low life- easy to dead for my experience
That's interesting Alex. Is this a buyer beware maple ? I hope not, as it is really very pretty, especially looking at Karl's photo.
Had one of these last year , wouldn't have another one of these given !!!! died after the spring they haven't got this one right yet , don't think they ever will.
Delicate looking for a reason then. What a shame.
I do hope Karl has greater success.
The leaf should be pure white with a deep red edging , very pretty if you can get it to come out this colour. A very expensive graft to play with in my opinion, i think the under stock you have to have with this one with the green leaf tends to suck the life out of the above tree it's supporting and just takes over.
after the year 2009 i buy another two in the photo is the only Izu no Odoriko tha survive two years but dead after this amazing sprout (pic date 2019)
And such a massive shame Alex.. But at least you have the photos and so do we now !!
in the facebook group "maples" there is Mr. Masayoshi Yano and one time i ask to Mr.Yano where is the best way for cultivation ,same rare cultivar like Beni kosode ,Izu no Odoriko etc. ;the reply was is :in the greenhouse with the shade cloth.
I think that says it all Alex.
