    Hi all,

I have an Alocasia portora and started noticing a white and waxy substance in the piko area and in the midrib and veins junction. It is greasy/waxy to the touch, translucent white in color and odorless. I have noticed it in two of the leaves. I am just curious if this is something the plant secretes or if I should be concerned about some type of insect. The plant lives mostly on the back deck.

    thank you.

I also found it on the petiole.

Hi Efrain. I have Alocasia 'Portora' and I haven't notice that kind of waxy exudate. All of my Alocasias do seem to drip off the tips a little when they are happy, but I was thinking it was more watery. Perhaps I just never looked close enough. I would try to rinse off the leaves well at least every month if possible.
