I do not expect that this could be a Japanese white-eye (Zosterops japonicus), which I used to see a lot on Kaua'i, but it looks just like it to me. It reminded me of Hawai'i anyway - that was nice.
Think that one's a juvenile White-crowned Sparrow, just starting to develop its namesake white crown.
I'm not sure about that one. I've attached an image of an adult and the plumage on the wings looks too different/wrong...
@pmurphy good morning P, I have to agree with Michael F in the ID. White-crowned Sparrow. Looks like a youngster.
Not that we need another ID but my bird-expert friend/neighbour says: The bird is a White-crowned Sparrow. You have to be careful with these guys as they do not all have white striped heads. The one in your picture is mature but the young have light brown stripes and I think they do not get the white stripes until next year. I think we should see more around now.
