Hello, I am moving plants out of my recently deceased father’s greenhouse and without enough clearance broke the top off of the larger side of the ponytail. I am heart broken and wondered do you have any suggestions on whether there is any hope for the broken off piece? any advice you can give is most appreciated. Lee Ann
Don't worry, all is not lost. The broken off section can be planted and create a new plant. They are actually quite easy to propagate. Also, the long stem that is left bare will sprout new growth, usually multiple new shoots, which can then be used to create more plants if desired. If you want the bare stem to sprout lower down just cut the stem where you would like the new shoots to start from. how-to-propagate-a-ponytail-palm
