Just an update that the 3 Pink Perfection at SFU are really gone, so we may wish to remove favourite pin ID 1240.

The Shiro-fugen are just starting the bloom and the Kanzan nearby are still behind the construction hoarding so probably will have to wait for the construction to be done before we decide whether they should be added to the map.

There are a lot of young Akebono planted, such as these ones North of the Library, and South of the field and tennis courts along Gaglardi Way. Not many blossoms left so probably will wait till next year for pictures and adding to the map :)

Along Centennial Way, towards the end towards the Burnaby Mountain Park parking lot, there's a row of young trees which look like Kanzan but interestingly, less dark pink than usual.

And at the Burnaby Mountain Golf Course and Driving Range parking lot, the Ichihara-tora-no-o is in bloom with a Kanzan as its companion beside. Strangely, the Kanzan isn't on the map. You can see it behind the Ichihara-tora-no-o in the first picture :)

I was late to a rehearsal last night when I passed this 'Shogetsu' on Burris across from Leibly. Judith Anderson, who lives very close by, was kind enough to send photos. This will be only the second 'Shogetsu' for Burnaby on our map.

Last chance to catch the cherry blossoms at SFU!
These were taken on Monday, and the Shiro-fugen still had some buds, but the leaves are green and June is almost here.

The Kanzans at the Richard Bolton Park are almost gone with the strong winds over the past weekend.

    Nice.
    That’s what elevation can do.

Yes, quite glad that SFU chose to plant some late blooming ones so that visitors for the convocation currently happening can enjoy the beauty too :)

These Accolades were spotted previously when the forum was down. We passed by on the skytrain and they were so pretty and pink, we had to walk there to take photos. Carpark at 3999 Henning.

Another pinned favourites (this time without cars or roads in the picture), the Akebono at Madison Centre Park, now in full bloom.

It's 'Tai-haku' time on Malvern again. Judith Anderson sent the photos; she reports that the other one across the road has disappeared.

Judith assures me that the second photo was not shot in black and white; her phone camera just decided to emphasis what a grey day it was.

We have a pending marker on our map for a 'Beni-shidare' at 4175 Portland. Joe Condie has sent these photos - he got the request when it was already past blooming season.

Here is another post for a pending marker that seemed to be on Portland, but the marker is on Hedley, and there is a row of 'Akebono' on the block north from Portland on Hedley, at the NW corner of Byrne Ravine Park. Thanks to Joe Condie for sending photos.

Is this a Yokihi OR Ito-kukuri

The pink double cherry blossom at 6606 Grant St Burnaby is named Yokihi on neighbourhood map.
I went there to took pictures this morning, and find it is looks like Ito-kukuri. The pink flowers tree come with smaller flower than Yokihi, flowers are tied together, petals come with pink lines, and there is a leafy in the central of flower.

Jacqueline, I'm so glad you're here! I agree with your ID for this tree, for all the reasons you give. I'll change the ID on the map and link to your posting.
    Thank you!

Realised I've unknowingly neglected Burnaby this round.
Shirofugen along Spruce east of Smith is in bloom but only one tree so maybe I shouldn't add to map?
    Shirofugen_SpruceSmith_Yong_20230503_IMG_3767.JPG
The Ichiyo trees along Canada Way west of Smith are almost done for the season and strangely I can't find my photos sorry..
SFU Kanzans are also in bloom!

All those single trees on the map can be helpful to someone who sees the tree and wants to know what it is. I don't bother when they're sick or have been pruned into an ugly shape.
