I saw this indoor plant in Jamaica and have tried to find it in Canada with no success. Would anyone be able to identify it by its botanical name, or common name in North America? I would love to get this plant. It is popular as an indoor plant in Jamaica, and as a potted plant outdoors. I suspect it is not a native plant of Jamaica, and people who have the plant there tell me they have never seen it in the wild.
Thank you very much! Do you have any idea where I might try to get it? My daughter and I both love the plant. She lives in Vancouver and I am in London Ontario, so we have the continent covered!
Independent nurseries that sell a lot of houseplants might be able to source a couple for you. You also might try a friendly florist because a lot of dracaenas are purchased for arrangements and dish gardens. You also might have a wholesale green house operation near you that grows tiny plants into bigger ones for selling to the big box stores. If you approach one of these businesses, you may need to talk to a manager or the owner. When you do see it in a retail environment, it will almost always be speckled with yellow dots.
The plant in question may be Dracaena surculosa 'Punctulata': Sparkling foliage of Dracaena surculosa | John&Jacq~s Garden. I do not recall ever seeing this plant at retail, only the 'Gold Dust' variety.
Oh yes...I see it is the "Punctulata" variety. Having the correct name enabled me to check and see the "Gold Dust" plant which resembles it, but clearly is different. Thank to both of you for clarifying this. Best Regards.
