My Christmas cactus has sat on my kitchen window ledge, directly above the sink, for three years, where it has prospered wonderfully. It clearly appreciates the combination of heat and steam, and also receives quite a lot of direct sunlight.

However, it's prospered a little too much, because it's now big enough that it won't fit there any more. I'm thinking I'll move it to the bathroom, also warm and steamy. But although the bathroom is very light, it won't receive any direct sunlight at all.

I believe Christmas cacti are Amazonian plants, originating from the rainforest, which tells me a lack of direct sunlight won't be a problem. Am I right?

You are right, they do not need direct sunlight. Lots of filtered light is advantageous though. I think the bathroom is worth a try.
