I have an Egyptian red star plant. Last night a storm blew it off of my deck breaking the planter it was in. Is it ok to replant this in the ground now before it gets too cold? I am in the midwest zone 6. Should I trim it down before winter? Or let it die back?

Pentas lanceolata. Not hardy. Overwinter indoors, in a brightly lit area. Take inside soon, before indoor and outdoor temperatures are too different. Place in intermediate area so bugs etc. will abandon ship before plant is brought into living quarters or other place (like greenhouse) where these would not be wanted.
