I went to a garden center this afternoon to buy flowers for my mother's balcony and I saw several maples labelled 'Extravaganza' (with 2 "Z"s I think). I tried both spellings in the search engine and got no return.

Has anyone heard of this cultiv.ar before ? It's a bit like 'Shirazz', Geisha (with less pink variegation on the edges from the photos posted here) and other variegated cv.s
I made a quick search and it is apparently available from RHS plants or FlorAccess (for professionals) but the photos I saw don't really look like the specimens I saw.

Sorry, no photos. I must really invest in this kind of flat machines with which you can telephone and take photos, often seen grafted on the plams of young people with those kind of life-support wires glued to their ears...

    (OK boomer ^^)

Hi Alain, yes it's being sold here in England by several nurseries online,You garden, Crocus etc etc. It's being advertised as 'new this season'. Did you buy one?
I'm looking at the photos now and it does have the wow factor.

It won't tolerate full sun it says. Does look a bit delicate to me.
    An interesting one though !!!

Hi again Alain, the more I look at it the more I wonder if it's a chance seedling from Jerre Schwartz.

Funny enough I spotted this cultivar for the first time on Saturday, the nursery (not local to me) had a huge consignment of them in, maybe 25 or more. They were the size of trees you would expect to pay £25-£30 for but selling them at £95!!!! Profiteering it appeared!
They were not in top condition, most with some sun scorch and little variegation.

There was one in better condition and I could see some variegation, looked very similar P.Rainbow to me. I resisted purchasing, in favour of Black lace and Trompenberg.

You shouldn't have said that : they were 29.95 €, it's 20 minutes to go there, 10 minutes to buy, 20 minutes to get back.

Oh my, here we are again.... ^^

I did a search and it seems to be only in the UK. Seems to be very close to A. palmatum 'Rainbow' like @dicky5ash said.

@AlainK, Hi Alain, you've got us all looking to buy this new maple. Lol
Did you buy it in the end?
Just seen Luke's new one, it is a very pretty tree with moody colours.
I'm hovering over the buy button at this very moment. But my wife is watching me very closely!!!!

@Acerholic You and me both, I added it to my online shopping basket a few days ago but like you have been hovering , they are available online for a reasonable £25 @ You ******, also thinking of adding Mystic Jewel to take advantage of the fixed delivery price ..any thoughts on Mystic Jewel would be appreciated.

This is Extravaganza (first 3), compared with Lileeanne’s Jewell (second 2) and Rainbow (last 3)

Hi Luke, it was 'You Garden' online. I ordered it with Extravaganza. I thought I might as well get into trouble for two, lol.

Oh no, there is another Amazing maples just come on YouTube, I always see another I like in just a few minutes of his videos.

This is Taimin Nishiki. I’m very excited about this one but I will have to be vigilant regarding taking out reverting branches so as to keep the variegation, which I think is gorgeous.

Hi, yes mine looks as though it had spent a little too much time sunbathing too. It should be in better nick this time next year.

I agree Luke, very nice. Your collection is so colourful with all your varieties. Aranging them is now another art form. At least yours are in pots so you can move them around until it's right for you. The purchases you have made this last couple of days is very impressive indeed. You must post a photo again of all yours together. D

@Acerholic can I ask what the leaf on your profile pic is from? It’s quite special.

Hi Luke, it was my Grandma ghost in November 2016. I'll attach the original for you. I do love the ghosts as you do.
