Sunny came back to see the Kiku-zakura. 2 weeks later for the previous post, same location.

Sunny took these Kiku-zakura in 2019 same location. They were so coloful, that is why she wanted to come back and checked, but no luck. Obviously, the weather played an important role.

Thanks, Janice. That's interesting to see the difference. If we didn't know better, we might even think they were different trees. How did they get so dark, anyway? They're not that deep colour when they're new.
She did get a photo this year that I think was worth the trip - the second photo (posting #151), showing in one photo, right next to each other, both the phylloid (leafy) pistils on the original flower and the sepals on the new second-story flower.

The Kanzan at E3 Ave and Semlin were full bloom.
I think today was such a warm day so I didn’t want to miss the chance.

Kiku Zakura trees were 30% in bloom. Probably needs a few more warm days to open up its buds. Few of them were in bloom.

'Kiku-zakura' on Gravely between Garden and Templeton are in full glorious bloom.
I used to think the trees were Sno-Cone shaped, but now I think they are Martini-Glass shaped.

Seeing these trees again was the finale to another great power cherry scouting session with Wendy.

The trees look better than ever. Well-deserved Festival Favourite.

They are crazy floriferous, and that seems to be a characteristic of this cultivar. They are a nice garden-sized tree too. Maybe a little late-blooming to get very popular?
