Green pod

    I saw these pointed green pods on the underside of a beech(?) tree in my nearby wood. Would anyone know what they are? IMG_20210523_132658.jpg

    Fascinating, I’ve learnt something new. I think these were Mikiola fagi galls - they look more similar to the photos. We cracked one open and it was very hard, so difficult to tell if it was plant or animal ;) and it looked empty - I guess the larva was still tiny.
