i have just bought a Cortaderia (Pink) it's about 2/2.5 ft tall.
I want to keep in a large pot instead of planting it, is this possible?

Debbie...that shouldn't be a problem at all, at least it will stop it spreading.

Pest potential is from re-seeding, so being in a pot will not prevent that. Some other pampas grass not horribly hardy, protect yours from hard frost - don't let it sit out during hard spells and freeze up like a brick.
