British Columbia: Is this Lysimachia maritima?

    Saw it growing in abundance on islands off Nootka island, along the forest edge on pebble beaches. This picture was taken in early August. Sorry, I didn’t get closer pictures or have time to stop for closer examination….

    That is fireweed. It's name has been changed a few times in recent history.
    Most recently known as Chamaenerion angustifolium, but it is again being listed as Epilobium angustifolium by E-Flora BC and Plants of the World.

    You can find very large swaths of this beautiful native bloom in the mountains after fires, or more commonly clearcuts.

    I’m wondering about the low lying plant in front and around the fire weed. Can you see it?

    Yeah, ha ha, that makes more sense, cause you know almost everybody knows fireweed. I don't know what the other stuff is. Lysimachia maritima seems like a good possibility.

    Yes, the foreground material is Lysimachia maritima.
