I was surprised to see Lost Lagoon seemingly, from a block away, filled in with greenery.

The algae growth turns out to be a yearly occurrence, now that the fountain is turned off and the lagoon receives no fresh water. The docent from the Stanley Park Ecology Society said the birds appreciate the algae, and it clears up on its own later in the year. There's an article about it at https://www.thewestendjournal.ca/blog/2025/9/1/stanley-park-notebook.
