Some early morning fog today, so some nice moisture on the laeves of a few more Aka shigitatsu sawa Red Dragon Baldsmith Amagi Shigure
A few minutes ago I took this one of my Rufinerve, as I thought it deserved a photo. I also thought I would update how my forest was looking, as the leaves are changing fast, (13 trees btw).
I mowed the lawn in the front garden, but the rest is still a mess. Anyway... 'Ryusen' (or Ryusei'). Should I air-layer the top ?... A small one from seed, long internodes for bonsai, but very nice autumn colours. The stone I found on a beach is Brittany I called "Erin" because its shape reminds me of Ireland : Two seedlings of Acer pseudosieboldianum ssp. takesimense. I put them in the shade when the leaves were beginning to get sun-scorch. I gave the 3rd one to a friend, she posted a photo showing red leaves : 'Beni hagoromo' : this one too showed very early autumn colors, but now that it gets only about 1 or 2 hours of evening sun it doesn't look that bad : A seedling of Acer elegantulum, and other trees :
Acer griseum : Manyof my maples are turning quickly to autum colours, and losing their leaves in a couple of days now.
3 week old field maple (acer campestre) seedlings. not the best time to germinate but the wet winters are just warm enough to not have any frost
On the left, in a grey pot, a seedling of some kind of Atropurpureum. But in spite of being in a rather shaded place, most of the leaves are scorched now. Next to it, a 'Summer Gold' I bought last year and that is looking much better than last year. 'Trompenburg', garden chairs, et alt. 'Rainbow', one that can stay in full sun without much damage. The lower branches, that were more shaded, still display some variegation. One of the palmatums I would definitely recommend. 'Phoenix', from air-layer. It began to show new red shoots a couple of weeks ago, but like the others, it's autumn for it too : Acer sinense (if I'm right) : The one I call "Shirpal" because I thought it was a cross between a shirasawanum and a palmatum. Whatever it is, I'd really like to keep it, and reproduce it : Cheers, Alain
Just sooo much rain here also, but the leaves are changing fast now, and that brightens the garden up. Hannah matoi Ariadne X2 Amagi shigure
A few from today after the horrendous weather on Friday ,actually had a fine day with a bit of sun !!!
Glad to see the sun shining in Yorkshire Mark. Storm Babet has hit everywhere hard, but not your trees.... Here are a few from this morning in some southern sun in my garden. So many have not turned and others have just dropped their leaves almost overnight. Sazanami English Town Crimson Queen Sango Kaku (Amber Ghost next to it with no leaves at all) Shaina A couple of other trees turning nicely with a nice blue sky. Ginkgo biloba and Katsura
My Kinran decided to give some nice colours this morning. It's only young, but is showing some good shape.
I think Baldsmith has the most nuclear intense dark pinky red colour in Autumn of any of my dissectums..
Hello - old leaves - it didn’t have this crazy glow last week.. it’s a bit like Osakazuki in terms of how bright it gets..it’s consistent year on year like this and a great Spring colour too..as I’ve mentioned on here before it was a nature tree when I got it but still took 4/5 years to settle in and throw out amazing colours. .looked very much like your typical dissectum initially to bear with it if you get one.
