Thank you to the anonymous person who put a marker for 'Kanzan' on St Patrick St, off Third St between 3rd and 4th Ave, on our map. Joe Condie was kind enough to take photos for me. He said it's a knockout. OK, festival favourite.
Actually, I took this photo on Tuesday, after the snow, as you can see, but before the cold snap. I'll check tomorrow if we don't have a snow day.
Very nice looking 3 Somey-yoshino cherries( flowers do not smell, they are not big, white) at shopping mall Royal Ave. - 10St. - Columbia St.
The petals are too round for 'Pandora'. I would suspect 'Somei-yoshino' - do you have any photo that shows hairs on the flower stems? Or where it's clear that there are not hairs on the flower stems?
No, I didn't look at this. I was lost with these cherries. Trees are quite young. Do we have young 'Somei-yoshino' in the city?
Yes, quite a few, and they're that shape when young. I guess the memory of the witch's broom problems has been lost.
That would be so nice if it had grass and was a bit more park-like, but maybe the stones assure that the trunks won't get damaged by lawn mowing.
Several Shirotae near Palace Quay in New Westminster. Every year I can see the beauty of this place from the car or sky train.
22nd St Station is blooming now! (This was taken right before the recent snowfall, the blossoms appeared to have withstood them though)
I’m surprised to see an ‘Ukon’ in bloom at the same time as the Akebonos. BTW, the Akebonos in Schara Tzedeck Cemetery, which you can see from the Skytrain just west of 22nd St, are also in full bloom.
