The tall Choshu-hizakura twins are now in full bloom at Montgomery Park (W. 43rd/Oak). You can clearly see the darker pink edges of the petals. Last photo shows the short tree Choshu flowers. At April 13, 2020.

I went looking for 'Ukon' today on my bike - I remembered that there were some great specimens in Tisdall Park, but I could not find them nor the ones lining the Safeway parking lot - things are pretty crazy around there because of the construction, and I'm not sure what's happened to those cherry trees.

Nice 'Shirotae', though, on the east side of Ash south of 45th:

Oak Gardens' hidden gardens (6015 Tisdall, west side; north of W. 45th) at April 15, 2020. Note access is by the paved path just north of the official address.

Accolade is gasping its last breath to the left of the Ukon in full bloom.

Shogetsu has opened its first blossoms.

If you want perfection, you're going to have to work for it. Pink Perfection is at the back/west side of Oak Gardens. Best access is off W. 46th Avenue, heading north on Willow. Just before 6030 Willow, there is a driveway to the underground parking, and overlooking the driveway is a Kanzan. Where its left side should drape is actually another little cherry tree. Vexillate filaments, my friend! Just opening at April 15, 2020.

Choshu-hizakura flowers at West 43rd (west of Oak) now looking very similar to those on the W. 27/Ash tree.

I posted all my 'Choshu-hizakura' photos from Montgomery Park in Ornamental Cherries, in the Identification: - Horizontal spreading tree with white petal and bronze-green leaves(1) thread, but I do have one more. I hadn't previously met Susan and Billy, but I was pretty sure they were Joseph Lin's people, which they admitted to being. Billy told me he hadn't cared about cultivar names before, but since they have been talking about the ID of the short trees so much, now he's getting interested. I told them I would post their photo. Talking to someone in person other than my Safeway barista was the highlight of my day, and they were delightful people.

Ichiyo is now past peak bloom, but still looks good at Southvan Manor (west side Alberta, south of W. 49th), April 20, 2020.. You can see its 'one leaf ' (phylloid/leafy style) at the flower centres.

Hard to believe a mere front yard can hold this huge Shiro-fugen on north side of W. 49th, between Cambie and Alberta. In bloom at April 20, 2020.

Pink Perfection by the pool of Oakridge Gardens (5925 Tisdall, west side; north of W. 45th) is in perfect bloom at April 20, 2020. With a Kanzan nearby for comparison. Note, the building complex name is Oakridge (not Oak) Gardens.

The other Pink Perfection in Oakridge Gardens at 6015 Tisdall, is pretty well overshadowed by its Kanzan neighbour. Both in bloom at April 20, 2020. In the third photo, the green leaves and lighter pink flowers of Pink Perfection in the top part separate it from the darker pink of Kanzan blossoms below.

OK, those little trees might not live up to their name, but that photo contrasting the 'Pink Perfection' and the 'Kanzan' is pink perfection.

    W. 48th Avenue, west of Montgomery has Shirotae, Shiro-fugen, and Kanzan.

Shiro-fugen in bloom on both sides of W. 48th, west of Montgomery at April 28, 2020.
    20200428_W48Montgomery_Shirofugen_Eng_2223.jpg 20200428_W48Montgomery_Shirofugen_Eng_2224.jpg

Two Shirotae finished blooming at April 28, 2020.

Note the peduncles: 1. Shirotae with peduncles; 2. Shiro-fugen with peduncles; 3. Kanzan NO peduncles.
    20200428_W48Montgomery_ShirotaePeduncles_Eng_2229.jpg 20200428_W48Montgomery_ShirofugenPeduncles_Eng_2230.jpg 20200428_W48Montgomery_KanzanNoPeduncles_Eng_2231.jpg

So when Shiro-fugen turns all pink and it's hard to tell it from Kanzan—look for the peduncles!

I don't think that's supposed to be the case, and I am pretty sure it not the case. I have circled the peduncles (the central stalk of an inflorescence, or the part closer to the branch) in your photo. Or are you trying to say something else?
