I recently removed a tree due to invasive roots and need a shade tree. I have an extra maple sitting around in a pot and am thinking of planting it as a replacement and to provide shade to this southern wall.

Should be fine as Japanese maples do not have invasive / damaging roots?

According to MrMaple where I got this tree from, it's a Acer palmatum from Jojakko-ji Temple. No other info is provided on the exact cultivar.

That location looks too cramped up against the wall for the size of tree that it will become. Though you are certainly right the roots would not be a problem.
Do you have space to plant it on the opposite side of the walkway in the lawn?

I already have a champaca tree near the other side. This is what it looked like before.

Maybe I can plant another evergreen tree

JMs are shallow surface rooting trees, and generally don;'t damage walls or foundations.
