I’m not very good at this..”No more plants”..resolution…I’ve been really bad recently. Found this in a local nursery.. A search on here came up with nothing..do you have it in your collections?

The leaves are quite large, similiar to Trompenburg, much bigger than Starfish..nice dark red bark..

I found the following on the Palmatia website:

Acer palmatum 'Dirk' is a very interesting new variety, probably a Shirasawanum X Palmatum hybrid, not far removed from the famous Acer palmatum 'Trompenbourg', which is characterized by its vigorous growth and the changing leaf shape throughout the season.

This Japanese Maple 'Dirk' begins spring with copper-orange leaves, with distinctive light green veins, before turning brown/olive-brown at the end of the season, when the leaf completes its development and approaches 'Trompenbourg'.

The new summer shoots bring the plant to life with more red or dark red colors, again in a deeply divided palmatum format, as in the Matsumurae group. The summer color is therefore a mixture of the dark red and olive green of the older leaves and the light red of the younger shoots. In late autumn, it gives us a magnificent bright red.

Acer palmatum 'Dirk' is an ideal choice for those looking for a very vigorous-growing Japanese maple.

It thrives in full sun, after acclimatization.

This Japanese maple forms a spreading tree (also similar in size to 'Trompenbourg') that reaches 3-4 meters in height at maturity.
