Hello - I have a five year old Euphorbia tirucalli which was doing fine until this past winter. I brought the plant inside and gave it moderate sunlight and watered it once a month. In January I noticed that certain parts of the stem were drying up but not completely dying. I have attached a picture to better illustrate the problem. This summer the problem has increased but it is still sprouting new growth above the dried portion. Any thoughts on the cause? Thanks!
looks like it might be sunburn. if it is, the damage is probably there to stay. if you dislike the look of it, cut it off below the browned area; trim off the browned area; let the cut end heal over for about a week and then pop it into the soil...it'll root easily. if/when you do cut it, remember to wear gloves as the sap from the plant may be irritating. wash well with soap/water if any gets on your skin and keep the sap away from eyes/nose/mouth.
