I just came home from Walmart and couldn't resist grabbing these guys... they looked so sad in their crappy pots... the small ones are one-inch pots, and the larger one is basically made of paper! They had no info on them what they actually are, so I need your help!

The cactus, I have no idea. The succulent on the right is... maybe echeveria? But what kind? The other two I know I've seen before, but I can't for the life of me remember their names.

Also, do you think I can repot the three little ones in a 4.5 inch pot? Would that give them enough room? Thanks for your help!

The big one looks like a Crassula (jade-plant type thingie). The other ones are vaguely familiar but I can't think of the names. Joclyn or Rose may know.

the large one is a jade plant (crassula family).

the other two are also in the crassula family, i believe. they are a bit etoliated and they need more light to have a better growth pattern.

the cactus could be a few different types. would need to see the flower to make an id on it. and it probably won't flower until next spring/summer or maybe not until the following year...some types don't start blooming until they're a bit older.

rosemarie is better at crassula id than i am - she'll be able to id the two on either side. maybe even the cactus. she's good!!

Thank you so much for your replies! I figured they'd need more light, they're by a plant light now, since my appartment doesn't get much natural light.

Thanks so much for the votes of confidence, ladies! *blush*

You surmised correctly, the large one is a Crassula...C. ovata.

The other 2 look like Sedum to me. Is it possible to get pix showing each (all 3) of them individually - closer?

Hard to say on the cactus. More detailed pic/flowers (as Joclyn mentioned) would help a lot! From this distance, it looks similar to Mammillaria backebergiana subspecies...but also like many other Mamms.

I would not pot up the cactus with the other succulents. The 2 smaller sux might do well in your 4.5 in pot together.

    Here you go!

And thank you so much for taking the time to help me out! I think I might plant them individually... what size pots would you recommend?

Sorry...I'm in a rush to get off to bowling league, after having gotten a 50 yr. photo book printed up for my sister's birthday. Whew!

Looking quickly (will gaze longer later), not sure on the 1st...looks more like an x Sedeveria now.

    Second looks like Sedum pachyphyllum.

Third could be one of many...I can't find a match for one with long upward curving black central spines. Looks close to this Mammillaria backebergiana v ernestii, but it is not that.

Someone else may have a better idea. :)

Ooh, thanks so much on the Sedum pachyphyllum! I knew I had seen it around a LOT, but couldn't get the name by just looking around. On the cactus... yeah, I've tried looking at a bunch of pictures, but haven't found anything with black spikes like that. It's so frustrating, cacti are so hard to identify! =)

Millet's suggestion of M. petterssonii seems like a good possibility. The spine formation & centrals seems to match in some pix I've found online. Another for your consideration is Thelocactus...maybe T. tulensis...although it seems there is much variability. Flowers would definitely help in its ID. :)

I'm still not sure on your first plant. Maybe after you've repotted it & it has a chance to grow some, you can post it again. Again, flowers help in identifying. :)

If you are going to pot them individually, I think a 4 inch container for each of the smaller ones would work. You'll have to see how fast they grow to determine if they need to be potted up to larger after that.
