I decided to prune our "pixie" now before any signs of buds pushing out as it is so much easier to shape the tree without damaging fragile tiny limbs. Other then a cool day today and tomorrow, no heavy frost coming in the long term and the tree is some what protected in our greenhouse. I did an in depth video hopefully capturing as much detail as possible. This is the approach we take with all of our dwarf upright specimens as it becomes very difficult to try and prune once the leaves have opened up in spring
Watched this earlier today on YouTube. But really glad to see it added to the forum Otto. There is so much talk about the difficulty in pruning maples. This instruction made it very clear and for the newbie, (simple).
Great videos as always Otto. Very valuable to see how you can contain older specimens in size by pruning.
