If that's what I'm doing I, then in these difficult times I'm very very pleased.
'Maples and smiles', can't get better than that IMO.

As It is meant to be Spring, Haa !! I thought I would put a few on here that are doing OK. I waited till after lunch to see how they are coping , as it's always a few hours after a frost that the signs are there of damage. And fingers crossed they are doing fine. A lot better than I am atm. Soooo very tired, lol. But they are worth it.
They are Butterfly, Flavescens, Red Dragon, Orido Nishiki, Pink filigree lace and Ki hachijo.

Glad you had a lovely day out there R, been thinking about you all day long tbh and the sights you were seeing today. Shame about the maples, but there is so much more to see there. Hope you have a great few days relaxing by a river.

I had planned to go to two arboretums (aboreta) not far from where I live. Unfortnately, we can't go futher than 10 km away from our homes now, zut ! - D : try ggl translate ;°) (not very common these days, but I love expressions like "bigre !", "mazette !", "saperlipopette !", etc)

Yeah, the kind of "swear words" that will instantly bring down the temperature when a conversation gets too hot, a sort of distance.

But so 1950's, I still use these words today. It used to get quite the chuckle in my line of work, lol.

OK boomer : here too we use this term, "la génération des baby-boomers"... That's where the biscuit began to crumble, people using "un challenge" instead of "un défi", etc. And now, Covid-19. Bon sang de bois ! <LOL>

After some initial frost damage whilst still in the pot, this one seems to be doing much better in the ground! Seems to have dodged the frost since and appears to be enjoying its new home :) Just in love with that orange!

Also here's a small trident maple I've got in a raised bed to develop for my bonsai ventures. The buds shot open very early spring, but have slowed right down. Coming up to a month since it was planted so will be starting feeding soon. Hopefully the frosts stop soon and this one can really get going!

This is helpful to know (and I quite enjoyed using my phone's nifty translate tool!) I'm just starting to plan fertilizing :)

Looks a good shape C and in the ground that trunk will thicken very well indeed. Maybe in 3 to 4 years a good one for a Bonsai pot!!?
