At the suggestion of @AlainK on the 'Spring is on the way' thread, I have started this new thread. Today here in Southern England it is forecast to be 18 °c, a nice warm Spring day for maples. So I will kick off with a few of mine that are underway this morning. Kasagiyama Emma Ogi tsuma gaki Red dissectum Twombley's Red Sentinel Uncle Ghost
Hi all! New here... I came across this forum a few days ago when I was googling images for prospective new maples for my collection. In the end I was getting quite a few redirects here for info and decided it makes sense to join in, it seems there is a mass of useful information for so many cultivars! Not sure if people usually post a "hi I'm new" style post but figured I might as well drop something in here. I'll post a few pictures tomorrow of what is currently alive and kicking. Lovely to see so many amazing plants here and find people as equally obsessed as myself - my partner doesn't appreciate my collection quiiite as much as I do
Good evening @Cattwooduk and welcome to the maples forum. I look forward to seeing photos of your trees when you are able to post. Glad to see another enthusiast from the UK.
Welcome @Cattwooduk Beni Mako - first spring with this one - I’m amazed by the fluorescent red/pink Phoenix Orange dream just leafing out with phoenix
The Easter Bank Holiday is nearly upon us and that means our maples are bursting out in leaf now. An exciting time of the year of wonderful colours. I know we maple enthusiasts love the Autumn, but the Spring colours are really special.(New life). So here are a few I took moments ago in my garden. Assuming the labels haven't been mixed up over the years that one is from some 'Sawa chidori' seed collected from a specimen at an arboretum. I was admiring the shape of the leaves today!

I'm with y'all that Japanese maples make my day (my favorite variety is the one that happens to be in front of me), but this is when platanoides is at its best (IMHO, of course).

Well after the warmest day in the UK this year 22°c recorded yesterday, I woke this morning to a lovely dew on the leaves. So I thought these would look nice to photo for the thread. @Luke’s Maples good afternoon Luke. I think I speak for everyone on the maples forum in saying you have been very much missed. So a very big welcome back. I see you found a new home for your collection. They are all looking wonderful in their new location. Let's hope this is more permanent this time. Anyway, wonderful photos from you once again Luke.
