You’re right… these are the only ‘Little Twist’ I’ve seen on the Sunshine Coast. There might be some for sale in the nurseries, though….
@Willard We are learning about ornamental cherry — and my cohort here asks if these Langdale ferry trees are grafted — do you know ? and thank you for the singular effort scouting from far and long on the coast very interesting (it’ll take me forever to learn what you and W know)
Yes, the four ‘Little Twist’ are grafted. I believe Maureen (BC Ferries) got the ‘Little Twist’ from a Vancouver Island nursery.
I think she told me one time she received a little budget for beautification and found these 4 in Saanich nr Victoria her projects are charming
Four ‘Akebono’ on North Rd across from Firehall. Two younger ones. And two older ones. These two planted very close to each other.
Thanks to @Georgia Strait for the ‘heads up’ on these two ‘Shirotae’, also on North Rd - just north of Firehall.
Four ‘Akebono’ at Christenson Village still holding on. Many of the blossoms have the extra immature petal. This one with two petaloids.
Also on Eaglecrest and O’Shea, across the street from the little runt in my previous post. ‘Shirotae’
Two ‘Akebono’ and one ‘Shirotae’ at the Gibsons Garden Hotel. Competing with each other for attention. ‘Akebono’ ‘Shirotae’

One of the Canada Post ‘Shirotae’ at the Tuwanek Hotel is making a comeback on its own roots. Avium on the left, ‘Shirotae’ on the right. Both growing from roots of original ‘Shirotae’ which was cut down 2 years ago.
