Willard has put markers on the map for all the postings, and I have redone the listing, as a pdf file. I didn't see a way to do a title. Those blooming dates are pretty approximate, by which I mean I looked at them only occasionally and mostly used the same dates for everywhere.

    Cute little petal duckling “Mallard”

I have not seen any nesting adjacent to ditches around here this year - often the male & female are very protective - startled me a few times walking / cycling

The pair of 'Shiro-fugen' at Franklin and Cochrane are going out with a Big Last Hurrah.

Yes, that trunk is punching above it's weight. Huge wingspan on that tree, and the trunk has a big scar on it from a missing limb.

Yes those are stunning today too
    Bravo bravo

I believe the large plantings would have been approx 15 yr ago and specified by prof landscape architect Ms Judith Reeves

I cringed when I saw a similar tree up on Franklin nr Gower with IVY growing up the trunk - argh!

Did you see Mariko's posting that included photos before and after of a 'Somei-yoshino' that broke in half at Koishikawa Botanical Garden? Zoom in on the 2021 photo.

    All green leaves still
Some at the Super Valu mall are turning orange leaves

@Willard - thé photo attached is at the back entrance to Super Valu store —- I think it was a multi pink / white blossom branch tree in spring 2021

And the fuzzy green top is the result of the infamous (cringe) Gibsons Haircut

I can’t find a bloom photo of this tree

    Maybe you have one?

it’s now early November in the rainforest at the coast

And I wonder if any of the cherries that bloom in 10th month and other times outside of the usual « spring » we associate w blossoms are on bloom in Gibsons Sechelt areas?

I may be 2 weeks too late for full bloom on this little ‘Accolade’ on Franklin Rd.
The cold weather did it in.

    See posting #56 from March 27, 2021

These flowers look huge in the photos. They're not really bigger than 2cm, if even that large, are they?

It’s a brave little Charlie Brown cherry blossom tree

thank you for pointing it out

yes the blossoms do look frosted and/ or done in by how many weeks of rain?

i note @Willard — you have found the street trees with earliest and latest blossom (Cochran and Franklin — shirogan last April May?)
ÉDIT - i mean the one street so easy and safe to walk and view with earliest and latest within approx one block (500 feet)

    thank you for scouting

Yes, Franklin Street is great for cherry scouting. You can easily view the street trees. They are not tucked away on private property.

    ‘Whitcomb’
    ‘Accolade’
    ‘Akebono’
    ‘Shirofugen’

    And even some plum trees.

The lone ‘Whitcomb’ at Gibsons Park Yard (720 School Rd) has very few blossoms, but still nice to see.
    Behind a chain link fence.

I expect another 2 weeks before peak bloom.

    Hello @Willard

thank you for starting the Sunshine Coast

QUESTION - outside of Quality Farm and Garden on Pratt Rd —- the north end of the barn at the loading bay (for hay bales etc) - there is a tall shrubby plant almost a tree that for the past wk or so has had small pink blossoms

Is it a cherry or something else (if else, what?)

    thank you

Haven’t seen it yet, but I’m guessing Viburnum.

    Will check it out tomorrow.

Spotted this ‘Whitcomb’ from Ocean Beach Esplanade and 2nd St which is two blocks away from 1640 Gower Pt Rd where it is happily blooming away.
I think this is the earliest ‘Whitcomb’ to bloom in Gibsons. Location is sunny and protected.
