A suprise of nature. We graft only a.p. 'Tayo nishiki'
A sport maybe ? from the scion ?
it comes from the scion
do we know the parentage of Tayo nishiki ?
Peter Gregory in his Timber Press Pocket Guide to Japanese Maples
says 'Taiyo nishiki' is a sport of 'Asahi zuru' but "differs from its parent
in having yellow, not cream-white, variegation. ... New leaves emerge
with pink-flushed pale and deep yellow variegations on a green background,
becoming cream-colored to yellow on medium green for the summer."
