Thanks for posting that - it saved me the trouble. I loved the Vancouver Sun headline: And the bit about them surviving for months as part of their raft, "sailing off to new lands". I've never read anything positive about them before.
Well, then, they are very good at finding your naked toes. In case you misplaced them. Also find wayward children very easily. And they are pretty good at aerating garden beds, just not so good at levelling the soil. If you disturb a pile sufficiently they may send out satellite piles, sometimes in a ring, sometimes in a relatively straight line from the first, creating drama and architecture with bold geometry in your front yard.
