    Hello,

A friend of mine is completely renovating her home. She has some rose (sorry, I don't know which variety) that she would like to save to replant in the same spot after renovations are completed. She expects that construction will take about a year if not more. Her contractor mentioned she should dig them up and put them in a pot if she would like to save them from damage during construction.

Any tips on how to safely transplant the roses from ground to pot? And will the roses survive a year or more in pots?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Cheryl

They could / should be fine if the pots are large enough and a good potting soil is used, but a better approach might be to plant them in the ground elsewhere for the time being.

Thank you for the reply and suggestions. It was a tough go digging them out as they had been there for 35 years! They are currently in large pots. If we can find a rose surrogate...we will definitely consider this.

    Thanks!
