What is the name of this prickly pear cactus?

    What type of prickly pear cactus is this? Can it survive the Canadian winter outside in the garden? How to grow and care for this plant?

    in the genus Opuntia but I'm not sure of the specific epithet for this

    I am not 100 % sure, but I am tempted to say Brasiliopuntia brasiliensis. If so it will not tolerate your winters.
