I understand there are some types of hibiscus that will survive cold weather. How cold? Im in Wisconsin! I was fortunate enough to recieve several hibiscus plants this spring. My husband and I are truckers and we hauled a load of nursery stock from Florida to several stores through out the midwest. Some plants were rejected because they were damaged during shipping.I nursed them back to health and enjoyed blooms of pink, coral, yellow, peach and red. I have brought many inside to sit in sunny windows for the winter. Recently, a friend of mine told me she thought some types of hibiscus could survive a winter in Wi. I have a few more left outside and I dont want to lose them, but the house is getting full! How can I know what kind I have? The only information on the paperwork for the load was that they were Tropical Plants. Thanks A Lot!

You have Hibiscus rosa-sinensis. Possibly she was talking about H. moscheutos.
