I am new to Vancouver Island and understand I need to lime my lawn. I have heard varying opinions on when to apply the lime. Some experts are saying the fall is best before the winter rains come and others say spring is best. I certainly would appreciate opinions from members with experience in this matter.

Secondly, what is a good blend for a winter fertilizer and is now a good time to apply?

    Many thanks.

Strictly speaking need for liming and fertilizer selection should be based on soil test report, as mineral content of soils varies from one site to the next. Some properties even have more than one kind of soil.
