hello fellow gardeners I have a beautiful, established mexican feather grass. I have never pruned it in the two years that I have owned it. Should I be pruning it, and if so, when? Thanks in advance for your response
I leave most of my grasses alone until sometime in March, when they all get a good trim. I find them more tidy for the year ahead if I do so. The dead leave blades and seed heads help to alleviate a "flat scape" garden during the winter. They are particularly spectacular with a layer of frost on it. By February, they usually look somewhat disorderly and beaten up after a few snow falls.
