i was reading this old thread about American Chestnut trees - and notice the reference to "Old Arboretum" at UBC. I know well the farm where the pumpkin patch is (was?) --- and the different gardens (First Nations, Mayan, et al)

OLD thread - Cherry Festival person has contributed about chestnut at OLD aboretum, UBC
American Chestnut in the Lower Mainland?

so where EXACTLY is the "old arboretum"

I know the old main library - and the clock tower - is it near that?

i'm from the days of "B Lot" - and the coffee shop at the bus stop zone. So this will be a big wake-up when I need to go to campus next week!

    thank you.

just south of the B row below the 2 is the Fraser Parkade. Below that is the First Nations Longhouse. It's around there, from Lower Mall to West Mall. I don't remember exactly the boundaries. It wraps around some buildings.

ah, I know where - thank you for clarifying

I found this map from 1980 UBC --- walking tour of campus trees (look where the bookstore is - and the Theology school now condos) ---- I am sure some trees have long-gone now esp w/ all the ongoing construction etc out there.

anyway - the larger inset map on Page 2 is the old arboretum --- and it says that Tree 113 is the American Chestnut - I assume the one you photo'd in the other thread (linked above)
