I am ready to transplant 3 year old white riesling grapes and was wondering what would be the best soil conditions. Thank you. Bert
That's as hard to answer as "What does Reisling wine taste like?" Other than ensuring drainage (and no more so than virtually any other vinifera) the best soil for reisling is the one you have. The resulting grapes and wines may be completely different from whatever "standard" reisling you have in mind, but you will be able to find a similar terroir and similar potential somewhere as a guide and starting point for your own efforts. You may wish to select a clone from a similar terroir if you can. Ralph
