I was hoping someone could help me.
About a week ago I got myself a new "toy" - a trail camera - and set it up by my waterfall to photograph the birds. I got some wonderful shots of the birds bathing (and the raccoons at night) but was wondering if someone could identify a hummingbird.
I thought at first it was a female anna's but this bird has a green head with dark stripe under the eye.

Think I'd agree with Anna's, except an immature male (the dark stripe being the first signs of adult male head plumage just starting to appear), rather than a female. But my Hummingbird experience is pretty limited.

Thanks, with our territorial male always around I wasn't thinking it could be another male (I'm hoping to get some clearer images soon, and find it fasinating to watch them have a drink while hovering.)

He might not consider it a threat until it has developed adult plumage? Might even be one of his own offspring.
