I have a worm bin going and all is well. I was wondering when do you decide to add the second level to the bin.
Do you just let the worms migrate upwards?
Do you move the most of the worms?

Right now, I have a bin resting over a section that allows the liquid to drain out. I also have 3 other bins sections that can go on top of the first layer. My worms seem happy enough-but how do I know when to add the second layer and allow the first to ripen ?

The bin you speak of with worms feading is on top. The empties with drainage below. Well, you know when to move an empty one above when the worm soil is full to the pressure marks which allow the next bin to rest. Then it is a new process again. Adding to the top layer. Worms will migrate to the food source.
