I have a ZZ plant which is about 5 yrs. old. It is really healthy, tall and has nice dark shiny thick leaves. The other day I noticed some clear sap at the tips of the leaves. I've never seen this before on my plant. I've checked for insects on both sides of the leaves but I can't see anything. I always dust the leaves to keep it shiny. I thought ZZ's were pest resistant? Any ideas what this sap could be? Thank you.
Ed, thank you. I did a google search and found that 'guttation' is root pressure - does this mean it needs to be transplanted into a larger pot? Is it normal for ZZ's to get this? I think you are probably right because I really don't see any signs of insects. It's a perfectly healthy plant. I appreciate you help on this.
Root pressure?? I thought guttation was the release of excess water or there abouts, maybe I need to go and re read it lol Ed
